Speaker No. 3: Mohua Thakurta

Mohua began my journey at eighteen, leaving home for college and moving to Mumbai when the Bollywood (or Hindi-language) film industry was booming. Finding endless opportunities in film, television and commercials, Mohua worked on hundreds of projects, both as a freelancer and an employee, for various production houses in India. Settling in the United States with her boyfriend, now husband, in 2001, Mohua earned her MFA from Georgia State University. During that time, she loved helping students produce amazing films on limited budgets. Later, in addition to landing production and editing assignments on nonprofits, commercial, documentary, and instructional videos, Mohua spent six years teaching film classes at the Art Institute of Atlanta.
As Georgia’s film industry grew, Mohua realized her knack for operating with limited resources would greatly benefit clients who could not afford the rates charged by the fancy production houses. Consequently, she established Aaramba in 2016 with a commitment on creating content for small businesses and nonprofits to tell stories that effectively position them to grow, create credibility, and spread awareness. Some of Aaramba's satisfied non-profit clients include Unicef, Healthy Mothers Health Babies, Sunav World, Clarkston the Film, and Clarkston community organizations.
