The We Own It Summit is focussed on increasing women’s participation in high-growth entrepreneurship. We attended last year in London, and we’ll attend this year in Philly.
The event attracts a really great group of entrepreneurs, investors, and support organisations – all of whom sincerely embody the spirit of collaboration, the will to drive change, and the intention to OWN the solutions. It’s certainly worthwhile to attend.
Check out this year’s great line up of speakers and interactive panels.
We hope very much to see you there!
When: May 1st – 2nd 2014
Where: Philadelphia, USA
Highlights from last year’s Summit in London:
Serial entrepreneur and trailblazer Ruth Owades dazzled us with pragmatic advice…
“We women don’t have enough confidence about our smarts. We’ve got to stop attributing our successes to luck. It’s not luck, it’s being smart and working hard. It’s good to be lucky, but it’s really good to be smart – and there’s a lot of smart in this room.” “When we say we are lucky, it diminishes how smart we are. Don’t be luck, be smart.” “It’s not always a straight line trajectory when you strive to be an entrepreneur. So my advice is Try It, what’s the worst thing that can happen? Fail. What’s so wrong with that? We fall down, pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and learn from it.” About being told ‘You can’t possibly raise 3 million through the angel network’ Ruth declared “I never assume I can do something (or can’t) without trying. so I tried, and I did it.” Ruth Owades
Helena Morrissey, CEO of Newton Investment and mother of 9 urged us… “Don’t accept the framework. If you have an open mind and an open heart, you can create your own destiny” “Women, Men, Different, Equal. Difference is what makes a great team” Helena Morrissey
